Keep customers informed
Text messages are read more than any other form of communication. Ensure customers receive the information they want by offering order updates via text message. To receive SMS updates, customers must check a box during checkout. Once they opt in, they’ll receive an SMS message when there are changes to their order status.

You can even send messages for custom order statuses created with Order Status Manager . For example, let customers know when an order is updated to a custom “shipped” status, and you can even customize the text for these types of statuses.

Advanced customization
You can modify the order status updates sent to customers and customize SMS messages to include the store name and various order details (such as ID, amount, status, etc.) along with custom text.

You also have the option to automatically shorten URLs in messages with Google URL Shortener.

On the Twilio settings page, you can run a test to see what customers will see when you send them a message.

Get information about each order
Send SMS updates to customers directly from the order editing screen. A helpful character count is displayed to help you stay within the 160-character limit for SMS messages. Customers don’t need to have opted in to receive SMS updates for you to send them an SMS.

Check the status of any SMS messages you’ve sent to customers in the Order Notes view (on customer orders). Check the message sent and its status. Errors will be displayed here to help with troubleshooting.

First steps

3. Log in to your Twilio account ( sign up for Twilio if you don’t have one yet ) and get the account SID and authorization code.
4. Add Twilio information to the extension settings page
